Once the home of an Edwardian family, Alcuin Lodge is now a comfortable guest house in the centre of York, with light and airy bedrooms, modern bathrooms and a welcoming breakfast room.
Alcuin Lodge is the perfect place to stay during your visit to York, a City boasting some of the most amazing architecture and history in the UK. We are a short stroll away from the city walls, the Minster, Museum Gardens and city centre where you will find Betty's tea rooms, the Yorvik Viking centre, York Dungeon, a vast array of shops and many more places to explore. There is something for everyone to enjoy, all within walking distance.
We are in a great location for the popular tourist and business areas, with easy access to the universities and close to York hospital, making Alcuin Lodge a great setting for all visitors to the city.
Breakfast is freshly cooked every morning, offering a traditional English breakfast (with bacon, sausages, tomato, beans, mushrooms, egg…) and toast. We also offer a range of lighter breakfast choices. There is also a selection of cereal, juices, jams and coffee and a selection of teas.
We can provide vegetarian breakfasts, cater for diets requiring gluten-free ingredients and for guests with a range of other allergies (please make us aware of this when booking).
In order to ensure that Alcuin Lodge remains a COVID-19 safe environment, we have put in place a number of temporary changes:
- Our aim is still to provide a personalised service
- We ask guests to use the hand sanitiser provided each time you enter the house
- Keys and parking permits are sanitised ready for each arrival
- We have taken steps to ensure that social distancing is maintained, as per government guidance
- We have removed any self-service element from breakfast and ask guests to pre-order all breakfast items, which will be served at the table
- Tables are allocated and set apart from each other. Each has an individual (sanitised) cabinet containing cutlery and condiments
- We have reviewed and updated our kitchen processes
- We'd ask guests to let us know their arrival plan to ensure that only one set of guests arrrives at a time
- In addition to our usual high standards of hygiene, we undertake additional deep cleaning daily with frequent attention given to high touch areas
- We ask guests not to wear outdoor shoes around our home and invite them bring slippers/indoor footwear to make themselves comfortable
- We ask guests to settle their bill on arrival in order to reduce numbers in the hallway at check-out time
We keep all of these measures under review and make appropriate adjustments, including implementing any new guidance when issued
